Job description

turbopuffer is looking for a Controller (based in Canada) who wants to evolve the finance function at a fast growing startup. This year we're migrating our ERP to an AI-native platform, rebuilding our billing stack, and putting agents to work across all of our projects. You'll be working directly with our CFO.

what you'll do:

- own month end close and reporting including variance analysis & statement prep

- lead our ERP migration to an AI native platform; full oversight over system design & config

- expand the AI orchestration layer for finance → repeatable work goes to agents

- become our default billing systems lead, you'll oversee billing ops day to day

- oversee multi-country payroll and benefits, commissions and equity management

- coordinate w/ external providers to ensure global corporate and sales tax compliance

- maintain an audit ready posture while ensuring appropriate controls & memos are in place

- coordinate agents to run but ultimately own transactional accounting

- collaborate on financial planning and maintain rolling forecasts

- roll up your sleeves and dive in to various ad hoc projects…no shortage of those

must have:

- CPA w/ deep US GAAP accounting experience, ideally forged in an audited environment

- progressive experience at previous high-growth tech startups

- ability to rapidly context shift and rebalance priorities based on business needs

- thrives on delivering consistent results in extremely fast paced environments

- proven track record of deploying & configuring AI agents to automate complex tasks

nice to have:

- deep understanding of cloud architecture & associated billing + margin analysis

- proficient in multi-entity rollups, international expansion

- sql, python or general coding experience

tpuf is hardcore & whimsical. we value:

- overstep > understep

- show > tell

- complexity is earned

- showing up as part of our customer’s team

- making stuff easy to react to
