Data Engineer – Apache OSSIE / AWS Athena / Presto

Job description

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join the Data Services Team of a growing technology organization.

The team is working with a large and complex data environment, containing more than 10 years of historical data across 1,200+ clients. The goal is to transform this data into well-structured, scalable data solutions that can be efficiently queried, analyzed, and used to deliver valuable insights and dashboards within the product.

This is an urgent hiring need, and we are looking for candidates who can contribute quickly to the design and development of the data platform.

Responsibilities:

- Design, develop, and optimize scalable data structures and data solutions for large volumes of historical and client data.

- Work with technologies such as Apache OSSIE, AWS Athena, and AWS Presto to query, process, and organize data.

- Develop efficient data models and structures that enable analytics, reporting, and product dashboards.

- Build and optimize data pipelines and data processing workflows.

- Work with large datasets and improve query performance, scalability, and data accessibility.

- Collaborate with the Data Services, engineering, and product teams to translate business and reporting requirements into technical data solutions.

- Support the transformation of raw and historical data into reliable, structured datasets that can generate business value.

Requirements:

- Strong experience in data engineering, data development, or data platform engineering.

- Hands-on experience with Apache OSSIE and/or AWS Athena and AWS Presto.

- Strong understanding of SQL, data modelling, database structures, and data processing.

- Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed data environments.

- Understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data transformation.

- Experience optimizing queries and data structures for performance.

- Ability to work with complex datasets and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

- Good English communication skills.

Nice to Have

- Experience with AWS data services and cloud-based data platforms.

- Experience with data lakes and modern data lake architectures.

- Experience building data solutions for analytics and dashboards.

- Experience with additional technologies such as Spark, Python, S3, Glue, or similar AWS data technologies.

- Experience working with long-term historical datasets or high-volume enterprise data.
