EPAM - Lead Java Software Engineer (AWS, AI)

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Lead Java Software Engineer to start a new team and step into a client-facing "AI Engineer" role. This position requires a proactive professional capable of working independently, collaborating closely with an English-speaking customer team, and driving the development of AI-powered solutions on AWS infrastructure.

Responsibilities

- Apply strong core Java skills to existing project infrastructure

- Work independently without strict requirements while maintaining a proactive approach

- Maintain tight collaboration with the customer throughout the project lifecycle

- Communicate effectively with an English-speaking team

- Meet client expectations through AI experience and theoretical knowledge

- Perform analytical work and research in cooperation with the Architecture team

- Develop AI Agents using the customer's Agent Development Kit in Java

- Apply AI principles to client's features and use cases

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience with core Java development, including Java 21/25, Spring Boot, and Spring AI

- Proficiency in AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, DocumentDB, S3, Bedrock, EC2, StepFunction, and SageMaker

- Experience developing AI Agents, including LLM prompting techniques

- Understanding of AI principles and their application to real-world features

- Skills in analytical work and research, with the ability to cooperate with Architecture teams

- Capability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment

- Strong communication skills to collaborate with English-speaking customer teams
