Job description

Pink Elephant is a venture builder and investment company developing an ecosystem of progressive mental health solutions. Our portfolio combines media, diagnostics, e-commerce, telemedicine, and technology to make evidence-based therapies and holistic practices more accessible. We focus on Europe and other advanced markets, preparing infrastructure for the coming wave of psychedelic and mental health innovation.

States of Mind is our video-first media at the intersection of mental health and psychedelics. It runs two shows. Human Journeys is built for reach and tells lived stories. Process in Progress is built for authority: it documents the clinicians, facilitators, researchers, and regulators who are building the industry while it takes shape. Both shows follow one honesty rule: difficult and ambiguous stories go on air alongside the successes.

The Role

The Showrunner takes over Process in Progress end to end and answers for one thing above all: whether more people watch it. You decide what gets made, run the recordings, and own the numbers. Editing and production stay with our external editing agency, which you brief and whose cuts you accept or send back.

We are hiring a show-builder. The person we want has already made a recurring format accumulate a following, on whichever platforms the audience turned out to live. The mandate starts with one show and is designed to grow across the slate: you set the craft standards for both current shows now and lead future shows as we add them.

Psychedelic therapy and interventional psychiatry are becoming real medicine, unevenly and noisily, with genuine promise and genuine casualties. We think this transition needs media people can trust: rigorous about evidence, honest about failures and costs, and human about the people living through it and building it. We expect you to find this subject worth years of your curiosity.

Responsibilities: What You Will Drive

The show's audience outcome

- Owning people per month and engaged share, measured in named platform fields (Apple Listeners, Spotify Audience, YouTube unique viewers);

- Working against floor, target, and stretch goals, and changing the approach whenever the show falls below floor;

- Following the audience wherever it accumulates. If growth lives in vertical social rather than long-form YouTube, the measurement fields change (IG Reach, Shorts viewers) and the ownership stays with you;

- Sharing one bridge metric with distribution: followers and subscribers converted per episode across platforms. You create the moments that convert, distribution ships and places them. Channel health, total social following, and collabs remain distribution's numbers.

Pre-production and recording

- Guest research and dossiers;

- Episode scripts with the arc, key questions, and clip moments planned in advance;

- Briefs for guests and co-hosts;

- Running every recording as the showrunner. Clip moments are created in the room, the edit only finds what was already captured.

Growth loop

- A packaging hypothesis for every episode (title, thumbnail, first 60 seconds, structure) and a review of what worked;

- Clips as the main acquisition channel;

- Reading retention curves, watch-through, and first-7-day performance, and carrying the conclusions into the next episode;

- Killing formats that fail to move the numbers two episodes in a row.

Guests and partnerships

- Keeping a pipeline of 8+ confirmed guests who are either broadly known (around 100K+ following) or known in the industry (10-15K+);

- Bringing institutional representatives (clinics, associations, researchers, regulators) into every second episode. Guest invitations are our partnership motion;

- Arranging audience cross-sharing with other shows;

- Logging every contact in the shared partner tracker with a next step.

Distribution kit

- Handing clips, quotes, talking points, and per-platform titles to distribution at least 2 days before release. A release without its kit counts as an unfinished task.

Craft standards across the slate

- Building the production and packaging playbook that both shows run on, together with the Head of Media.

Experience: What You Bring

- A show you grew, with proof: its name, the starting and ending numbers, and what you changed;

- 3+ years producing recurring talk, interview, or documentary formats across platforms, including social video;

- Fluency in packaging, CTR, retention curves, and clips as acquisition. You read YouTube, Spotify, and Apple analytics yourself;

- Experience briefing external editors and accepting or rejecting a cut;

- Daily, systematic use of AI across the production loop, from guest research to clip selection and retention analysis;

- Strong plus: work in health, science, medicine, or finance, and a show launched from zero.

What We Don't Expect

- A psychedelics background. Almost nobody with this skill set has one, and substance is held by co-hosts and the editorial check. We need curiosity and respect for the field;

- Ownership of content substance. Medical and substantive wording sits with hosts, co-hosts, and editorial, and the honesty rule is fixed rather than something to optimize;

- Editing or motion craft. You will not cut video, the external agency does.

Engagement Format

- Remote, European time zones (UK/EU). We work as a distributed team across Europe. US-based candidates are considered only with reliable overlap with a European working day;

- A long-term team role. We are hiring a permanent member of the team;

- Finalists complete a paid test assignment first. After that we start either full-time from day one, or with a fractional first quarter (2-3 days per week, one show) that converts to full-time as the slate grows. We agree the start with the right person.
